Another Girl is a modern rock...album full of passion, electronics, and power. Yola...shows strong potential.
ALL MUSIC GUIDE by Scott Yanow
She's a fetching young lass, her Polish accent places her in a long line of female performers whose exotic delivery adds appeal to her music
SPLENDID MAGAZINE
Yola's nine original songs...appeal to your emotional and rhythmic instincts. Another Girl's top notch production was recorded at LoHo Studios in New York City... It sounds great! Aside from the music, you'll want to read Yola's inspiring personal story, a story of triumph over adversity.
INDIE-MUSIC.COM by Suzanne Glass
This is the kind of music to get lost into. From the funky “Intro” going into the jazzier rock sounds of the title track, to the following “Love You,” which almost has a serenading Prince feel to it, this debut CD has its own unique flavor. There is a nice mix of jazz, rock, pop, funk, hip-hop, and more, all blended nicely with Yola’s expressive, subtly accented voice.
KAOS 2000 MAGAZINE by Philip Anderson
An eclectic mix of pop,... and jazz laden songs show that Yola is not just “another girl” and will be a force that …the other pop singers will definitely be on the lookout for.
BVS REVIEWS by Bruce Von Stiers
Yola’s Another Girl CD is soulful, jazzy and captures the many moods of love… The music never overpower the lyrics, rather, they provide punctuation for her sentiments… this is a very well done original CD with poetic lyrics that didn’t become saccharine and an excellent set of musical arrangements.
FACINGNORTH.NET by Karen Phillippi
Yola's grooves and vocals are totally unique! Although one can clearly hear the influences of Rock, Jazz and R&B in her music, Yola TRUELY combines them in a way that I have never heard! ...the music is...complex melodically and somehow smooth and easy to listen to.
CD BABY customer review
First of all, cool CD cover. Yola's voice reminds me a little of Gwen Stefani /No Doubt /. She has the same pouty-girl thing happening. The music is rhythmic … that makes you want to bounce around… Very, very nice. Stand out songs: "I Wanna Be Loved By You" (beautiful piano, mellower), and "Saying Goodbye" (her voice really shines here).
