Codey for saving a life. She made headlines by saving another performer's life, while onstage. She performed CPR in front of thousands onlookers. In recognition for this action, Yola received a special Commendation of Heroic Action from the Governor of the State of New Jersey, Richard J. Codey. She was also endorsed by such honorable organization as the American Heart Association. Inspired by that event she formed the nonprofit organization CPRAwareness.org, established a CPR Awareness Day of NYC and she is producing series of jazz concerts Feel the Beat to promote CPR - life saving measure.
